Berlayar Ke Mata Hari XIV ‘The Mask’

Gamelan Slendro and Pelog with Tumbuk Nem, digital sounds, alto flute, metal percussion and dancers

Programme notes

In The Mask, the first piece of the cycle entitled No Face, the characters hide behind their personas and personae. In so doing they are unable to connect with one another. While the chorus comments on the ephemeral nature of beauty, only the faceless blind Seer sees all.
