Convocation Fanfare 1
Three trumpets
Circumstances of the composition
Casteels wrote this brass fanfare for the 1995 convocation ceremony at LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts where he was Head of Music. The score and parts are lost. Playing for convocation was part of The Singapore Wind Symphony's (SWS) residence at LASALLE, after its resicendce at Kallang Theatre was terminated. SWS is one of Singapore's premier community wind ensembles, with a long and distinguished history in the local arts scene. SWS was originally founded in 1977 as the National Theatre Symphonic Band (NTSB) under Ho Hwee Long. When the National Theatre Trust was dissolved in 1992, the NTSB re-registered itself as a society and changed its name to the Singapore Wind Symphony (SWS).
