Programme notes

Krus ng Aking Ina or My Mother’s Cross, poem by Franco Coralde Sangreo: For nine months you bore me Taking care of me in every turn and rhythm. The day came, with my eyes still closed When I first caught sight of this world. My wailing echoed, Assign of my cavalry that is about to start. It is an arduous task for me To travel to the crossroads of Golgotta But you are there my dearest mother, Carrying my cross while I still cannot. Franco Coralde Sangreo is a full blooded Bicolano from Baybay, Tiwi, Albay, Philippines, residing in Kalayaan C Batasan Hills, Quezon City. He works as a graphic artist and Colorsep operator. Photography is his favourite hobby second to writing poems. Manuel Cabrera II gave this poem to Casteels. Tenor Edwin Orlando Cruz and guitarist Manuel Cabrera II premiered Krus Ng Aking Ina on 15-VII-2012 in the Esplanade Recital Studio, Singapore.
