LASALLE Spatial Fanfare For A New College

8 trumpets and 2 percussionists (kempuls, 4 suspended cymbals, bass drum, set of granite blocks, snare drum and set of crotales)

Programme notes

Short and exuberant fanfare composed by Robert Casteels, then Head of Music at LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts for the inauguration of new buildings at its Mountbatten Road campus (which was located at Goodman Road, near Mountbatten Road). The event, which also celebrated the college's 10th anniversary, was attended by then Deputy Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. The construction of these two new buildings was made possible by a $15 million donation from Singapore Airlines (SIA), leading to the institution's renaming to LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts in 1993. The purpose of this development was to bring all the college's activities together on a single campus. The college operated from this campus until its relocation to McNally Street in 2007. For more information of The SIngapore Wind Symphony, see Convocation Fanfare opus 15.
