Le Phare (opus 96 nr 1)

Opus 96 is a composition for pipe organ and a solo instrument ad libitum. The music of the three versions of opus 96 is identical. The registration differs. The score includes drawings meant to suggest the registration. Casteels collaborated with three Singaporean visual artists he has known for many years: Joshua Yang for The Lighthouse, Ian Woo for De Vuurtoren and Milenko Prvački for Le Phare. Born in Yugoslav, Milenko Prvački, the dedicatee, moved to Singapore where I became a highly respected and successful painter. Milenko was Head of Fine Arts at LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts, when Casteels was Head of Music.
