Mis nr. 1B (opus 104B)

SSAATB choir a cappella

Programme notes

The first version of the mass nr. 1 was written for choir and harmonium accompaniment. This second version is a cappella mass on the five parts of the Ordinary of the Roman Catholic Mass. This second version is based on the same compositional material but does not anymore rigorously follow the numerology of number 8 as did the first version. Except for the Credo, the mass was first performed during the first anniversary mass in memory of the composer's father who passed away in October 2015. The conductor of the premiere was Flemish choral conductor Lou Van Cleynenbreugel who was born in the same city of Tienen as the composer and who collaborated with the composer on a number of choral projects (Nausikäa and Da Pacem) as well as the massive choral opera De Kaartridder.
