Circumstances of creation
Casteels prepared this instrumentation of Bartok's for a 2020 special project with NUS GENUS, which did not materialised. Subject and Reflection by Bartók is piece no. 141 from volume VI of Mikrokosmos. From 1926 to 1939, Bartók composed a progressively organized series of 153 keyboard pieces designed to teach both technique and composition.
