Circumstances of creation

The first performance by the composer took place on 8-X-2011 in the National Museum of Singapore during a film festival entitled Visions of the East: Asia through French Eyes. Albert Capellani's 1919 silent film, The Red Lantern, is a historical drama notable for its star, the famous actress Alla Nazimova. The film is a period piece set against the backdrop of China's 1900 Boxer Rebellion.
