Two Hymns

God so loved the world for choir SATB and organ/ Easter hymn Christ is risen today for choir SATB and piano

Programme notes

The Easter hymn Jesus Christ Is Risen Today originated as a 14th-century Bohemian Latin hymn (Surrexit Christus hodie). It includes the ecstatic word Alleluia repeated as a refrain at the end of each line.

The hymn God so loved the world uses the following verse from John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
