When Two Nations Meet

Piano four hands

Programme notes

This composition superimposes the Belgian and Singaporean national anthems in a double fugue. The idea arose when the writer attended an event in a neighbouring country during which two recorded anthems were accidentally played simultaneously to welcome dignitaries. The dedicatee, Alain Vandenborre, is an entrepreneur who was born in Belgium and became a Singapore citizen.
