Whisper in the night WAR

Solo percussion and strings

Programme notes

Composed as the second Gulf War was looming, this piece expresses the composer’s disappointment at the obvious failure for cross-cultural understanding and respect. In contrast to previous works, the compositional writing is deliberately kept introvert and non-virtuosic. This music expresses disbelief at the intolerance, which seems to contaminate so many minds and hearts all over the world. Every short note expresses death. Every long note defies death. Intolerance shrinks our green planet to a meaningless petty hard nut.
